Pit Wall
Terms of service
Last updated
The rules for using Pit Wall, in plain words. Your content stays yours, AI readings must be checked, and you can leave at any time with all your data.
The service
Pit Wall keeps the history of your cars: service records, documents, schedules and running costs. It can read invoices and receipts with AI and turn them into records for you to check.
By opening an account or using the service, you accept these terms and the privacy policy.
Your account
- You need an email address you control. There are no passwords: you sign in with a link sent by email or with Google, so keep your email account secure.
- One account per person. You are responsible for what happens in your account.
- The service is not for children under 13, or under the minimum age for online services where you live. If you are not yet an adult where you live, you need a parent’s or guardian’s permission to use it.
Acceptable use
- Upload only documents and photos you have the right to use.
- Do not upload anything unlawful or harmful, such as malware.
- Do not try to reach other people’s data, test or break the security of the service, or get around its limits or its bot check.
- Do not overload the service, copy it by automated means, or resell it.
- Do not use it to break the law or to harass anyone.
We may remove content or suspend an account that breaks these rules.
Your content stays yours
You keep every right you have in what you add: records, documents, photos and notes. You give us permission to store, copy, process, display and transmit it only as needed to run the service for you: for example to read your documents with the AI services that read them, to show your records to the people you share them with, and to keep backups. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account: what was read from your documents is deleted once those documents and the records made from them are gone, and copies in the database backups go as those backups are replaced.
We do not use your content to train AI models, and we do not sell it.
You are responsible for having the right to upload what you upload. Anything you put on a public page can be seen by anyone with its address.
AI reading can be wrong
The service reads documents and photos with AI models, and they make mistakes: an amount, a date, an odometer reading or the car a line belongs to can be misread. Check every record before you rely on it. The app marks what it was unsure of and shows the page it read.
Readings, totals, schedules, reminders and recall information are there to help you keep records. They are not a substitute for a qualified mechanic, the manufacturer’s instructions, or official records such as registration, insurance and recall notices, and they are not financial, tax or legal advice. We do not promise that any reading, total or interval is accurate or complete.
Dossiers
A dossier gathers a car’s records into a document you can share, with a link that lets anyone check it. It is tamper-evident and linked to source: the check shows whether a record has changed since the dossier was made, and whether it is backed by an original document you uploaded. It does not guarantee that the work was done, that a document is genuine, or anything about the car’s condition.
Credit and payment
- Every account has every feature. Your first year is free, with the files and downloads the app shows.
- After the first year, a yearly pass keeps the account open, with the files and downloads the app shows. Its price is shown in the app, and it is taken from your balance each year on the day the app shows.
- Reading, describing and asking with AI is paid from the balance at the price shown in the app. Everything you type in by hand is free.
- Money goes into your balance through a payment you make yourself, in US dollars, or in Canadian dollars for an account whose home currency is the Canadian dollar. The price and any taxes are shown before you pay. Nothing is ever charged without a payment you make: there are no subscriptions, and your card is never charged on its own.
- Credit in your balance never expires, has no cash value and cannot be transferred: it pays for this service and nothing else.
- When the balance cannot cover the pass, or a payment is reversed by a refund or a dispute and leaves the balance below zero, the account becomes read-only: you can still sign in and see everything, and nothing is deleted. From there you can add money to the balance and carry on, delete the account, or take one export of your data, after which the account is deleted once you have downloaded it or a week later.
- An account that has stayed read-only for twelve months or more, or a sign-up that was never finished, may be deleted by us, with everything in it.
- Everything done in a garage is paid from its owner’s balance, so the people an owner shares with pay nothing.
- Payments are not refundable unless the law where you live says otherwise. If we do refund a payment, the credit it bought is taken back from the balance.
- We may change prices. A new price applies to what you buy after it, and we tell you in the app or by email before then.
Availability
We work to keep the service running, but we do not promise that it will always be available or free of errors. We may change, add or remove features. Keep your own copy of anything important: you can export your data at any time.
Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the service or other people at risk; where we can, we tell you first and give you time to export your data. If we stop offering the service, we give you reasonable notice so you can export your data.
Limits on our liability
The service is provided as it is and as available. To the extent the law allows, we give no warranties beyond those in these terms and are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data, profits or revenue. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Some places do not allow these limits; there they apply only as far as the law allows.
If you use the service as a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the place where you live.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We post the new version here with a new date and, for a change that matters, tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using the service after that, the new terms apply; if you do not agree, you can export your data and delete your account.
